John's birthday was last week on Oct 7th. John had icecream sundays as he prefers icecream to cake. We bought this question mark candle especially for John because he never knows how old he is. (He is 37, and if we remind him of that, he suddenly feels old).We tried to trick John by getting him new pajama bottoms for his gift and putting his real present, an mp3 player inside the pockets. But the mp3 player slipped out of the pocket and into the wrapping-- oh well, at least John got what he wanted and pajama bottoms with no holes to boot.
Ruth, Kate, and Johnny all spent their own money to buy John Lindt Chocolate. They all wrapped or hid their presents in different ways. Ruth wrapped a backpack; Kate put hers in a three ring binder and wrapped the binder, and Johnny tried to bribe John for video game time if he gave him a birthday present. All in all, I think John had a pretty good birthday. But after a week of use with the mp3 player, John has decided to exchange it for another one of the same in hopes that the quirky things with this mp3 player happened to only have something to do with the ones in this box. It is a good thing I shopped at the store, and not the internet.

That's what Jer did with his mp3 player... he looked and looked for one, then ended up not really liking the one he got... oh well, Happy B-Day John!
