Good Mom, Too BAd (title by Kate)
Yesterday, I had to wash our floor during the day because I neglected to do it the night before. It is usually pretty hard to do this with the kids around. So, thinking of all the parenting books and talks on parenting I have read and heard, I got Rachel her own little bucket of water and a rag. All this time, I'm thinking, "Boy, I'm a good mom." So Rachel had her bucket and rag and I had mine and we started to wash the floor together. (I was still feeling pretty good at this point). Then Adam came in and grabbed the bucket from Rachel. Rachel started screaming, and tugging the bucket back. I told then to share the bucket. They did not. They kept screaming until they dumped out the entire bucket of water. I gave Adam a dry rag and told him to wipe up his spill, and then told Rachel to go to her room until I finished washing the floor. Then I sent Adam to Rachel's room too. I no longer felt like a good mom-- I felt like a dumb mom. Why did I not think to get two small buckets? I have to get 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 of everything else or have lots of fighting, grumpy kids.

It's so true! I can never get the house clean when Ada's around. We just got a Korean business man assigned to live with us... and that has helped me a ton! I get up almost two hours before Ada. The other day I got the bathrooms clean, the dishes done, the toys picked up, the laundry folded, breakfast made, and a gazillion emails answered before she was ready to get out of bed... I felt more productive in those two hours than I usually do in a whole day!
