The Straw Pig
Yesterday John suggested starting a business called, "Straw Pig." We joked about that for some time--how it would be funny to sell crappy items that would just fall apart. Then it occurred to me that there is already a store that should be called Straw Pig and it is wildly successful-- Wal-mart. We've decided to call Wal-mart Straw Pig now. John went to Straw Pig last night and bought some donuts and viola they are really kind of gross. Some of them were even stale. Thank goodness for the combination of Target and Home Depot so I do not often have to settle for the quality of the straw pig. I much prefer the stabibity of a stick even if it does cost a little more :).

When I started dating my hubby I came to realize he spent a little bit more on products for quality and the items lasted longer and were overall better for the incremental price increase. I tend to be the other way around and like to spend the least amount on an item for most things (not including food). But I've come to realize quality is truly better. I go to the strawpig store out of convenience, but it's just up the street from Target, so I need to get into a habit of going there instead. Good reminder!
Well, I used to always shop at the Straw-Pig, but now I do almost ALL of my shopping at Albertson's (I don't buy clothes very often because we have been blessed with Hand-me-downs). It is really amazing because they have sales that go with the current coupons--so name brands are amazingly cheap! Especially cereal--I don't pay more tha $.50/box now and it is for good, name brand cereals! Anyway, you guys are funny--"Straw Pig" is Wal-Mart.
I've mended Jacob's Straw Pig underwear several times, while the name-brand underwear has held together perfectly, is thicker in fabric, and more comfortable. Unfortunately, I have to buy the name-brands at thrift stores (the brand-name underwear was NEW)
