This Week at Our House # 35

This week was an ordinary week for our family. We schooled. John and the older kids worked. The younger kids made lots of messes that we continually cleaned up, and on Saturday, some of the kids and I went on an evening beach trip. The waves were tall and fierce today, even though the water was as warm as a pleasantly warm bath. Before we left, a large waved knocked Kate so fiercely, it gave her a bloody nose. There is a hurricane coming that may hit us Thursday or Friday. I am wondering if that has anything to do with the height and fierceness of the waves today. The storm is still supposed to be about 1000 miles off our shore.

1. I wish I could say John had a job or another game ready to sell, but he has neither. He was rejected from a job that he thought he might get, but that is nothing special. 
2. The days and the weeks go quickly for me now. Particularly, the weeks that we have school. I have often said that homeschool sucks the life out of you. I basically mean that it is very time consuming and tiring. It's a lot of work to teach that many kids with that many different levels. But I love it and I am glad that I do it now.
3. Ruth has her going home date. She will leave her mission on March 3, 2019. 
4. Kate has blessed our family so much with her Church history study. She finished the 7 volume History of the Church and she has just finished the Life of Heber C. Kimball. Now she is reading through the journals of other early Church members. Since Kate loves this study, she teaches it to the family.
5. Johnny was still recovering from dental surgery pain and did not do too much until the end of the week. He is still in some pain, but is not taking much pain medication anymore.
6. Adam has been diligent with exercise recently, and it is obvious. His arms and shoulders are huge. He does push-ups several times a day and he lifts our 40 and 50 pound weights. I look at him and can hardly believe he is only 13. 
7. I realized that Rachel's dairy problems are from cows milk, so I bought her goat cheese. She has lasagna with goat cheese and while it was not the same as ordinary lasagna, I think she liked it a lot better than lasagna with no cheese.
8. Anya has been having stomach aches. I realized it was associated with going to bed late. I told her to get to bed earlier and tada, she was all better.
9. Joseph has been making me so proud. He has been much more focused on learning things and doing things well. 
10. Joshua's reading is so much better than it was just two weeks ago. He is flying through his word flashcards without thinking and reading everything faster. He is now only pausing on the obviously hard words. 
11. Arwen has been coming up with elaborate games to play with Susan and Joshua. They seem to be spending almost all of their free time together now.
12. Since Suzy broke the tv, she never watches tv, and never asks to watch tv, and she has suddenly become a lot more creative in her play. She is also making bigger and more thorough toy messes, but is more willing to help clean them up.
13. I was singing Sam's name to a tune that he particularly likes and he started sinigng, "mamma, mamma, mom" to the same tune back to me.
