Stories from Ruth # 51

 

This week was one of the craziest weeks in my mission. I have been sick for a couple weeks now and only getting worse. On Monday we did Family home evening at the Bazurto's house. Sophia and I played football the majority of the time while Sister Kaithwas taught Sister Bazurto how to make spinach curry. During the week we visited Sister Berry and met this cute family in her shop. The two year daughter kept talking to us (in twi) and we eventually asked the mother, Arene, if we could visit. On Friday we visited Arene and her family. Her two year old daughter Shanelle kept playing with me while Sister Wilcken talked with Arene. Arene wants to come to church this coming week and invited us over to teach her and to meet her husband, and more importantly to teach us how to make jolloff rice. Then we went to see Anny who prepared us an Angolian meal. She makes better chicken than anyone in North Carolina! It was to die for! We set up a little course and taught the kids about Lehi's dream and keeping the commandments. They really enjoyed it and even did it several more times after we left for Mandip's baptism. Mandip is an Indian the sisters have been teaching and on Friday he was baptized! The whole district sang "Come Thou Fount." It was lovely and Gilbert enjoyed it as well. Sunday we left early and went with Elouise's grandkids (Zaidan and Shawayne) to church. After the service had a munch and mingle and talked to Lidia's friend Saray who wants to know about the gospel which was really good! We should be teaching her with Lidia which will be a lot of fun! Then Sister Berry

introduced us to Lauren's friend who came because it is Lauren's last Sunday before she leaves for the Hong Kong China mission. He is coming to church again next week! We saw so many miracles this week I feel very blessed. Even though we were sick and a lot happened the Lord blessed us so much this week.

This week I want to share Moroni 10:32 "Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."

We really have to make that effort to separate ourselves from the world and deny ourselves of all ungodliness. We are in the world and need to free ourselves from it that we may be counted worthy to live with God. That requires sacrifice as we must be willing to sacrifice all our sins to know God. We also must love him with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength which means everything we have. We must make a rigorous effort to think of Christ and put his will first above all things.
