This Week at Our House # 11

1. This week was one HARD week-- for John, for me, and for the kids. John did not get much work in this week as he spent a lot of time taking care of me and the kids, and making dinner and the house and all. He is physically and mentally exhausted. I am hoping for a better week for him.
2. I was sick, sick, sick. I could barely get out of bed. Everything I tried to do would get me coughing really hard. I cleared out the dish drain and it wore me out. On Wednesday morning, I tried to fold a load of laundry out of the dryer and realized I just didn't have enough breath to complete the task. That is when it hit me that I probably had pneumonia or severe bronchitis. I decided to go to a doctor. I went, and the doctor said that I had pneumonia. He said an x-ray would tell me if it was bacterial or viral, but that he could just give me an antibiotic and an inhaler because I was pregnant and did not want to risk an x-ray. I felt a little better 24 hours after the antibiotic. At that point I was pretty confident that it was a bacterial pneumonia. Friday was the last day I had a fever. I woke Saturday without a fever and opted to not take anymore tylenol. I haven't had a fever since. Today I have not had much trouble with coughing and have been able to make meals and clean up. I am through the worst of it. I had no idea pneumonia could make a person so very sick.
3. Ruth made dinner twice and did a lot of cleaning, fetching for me, and taking care of the little kids as well as going to school for the full week and doing all of her homework.
4. Kate helped a ton all week too. Thursday was the last day of her term and she managed to pull off a 4.0. My dad happened to be here on Wednesday and Thursday before he went camping with my sister. Kate loved seeing him. That was really great to have him here playing with the kids.
5. I have not yet looked at Johnny's grades, but Johnny had to pull a lot of extra weight around here too as well as manage to keep up with school. He had Friday off and that helped.
6. Adam probably didn't do too much extra to help me out. But I loved have him coming in and giving me a hug and telling me he loves me. He had fun with his Grandpa.
7. Rachel did a lot more to help out too. She really loves my dad and really loved her time playing with him. I liked seeing her just sitting with him.
8. Anya survived having Dad and her older siblings take care of her for a week straight, but she was awfully teary eyed and out of sorts. 
9. Joseph has not seen my Dad for 3 years, so I am sure he didn't have any memories of him. But my dad is so good with little kids, Joseph fell in love immediately. Our trick with Joseph this week was to keep the tv off and keep him busy outside so when we needed his attention or needed to get him to bed, he just went. I am so glad I got sick during good weather. I really wish I had a big wooded yard for this little boy of mine.
10. Josh spent a lot of time at my bedside and getting my dad to build blocks and puzzles with him.
11. Arwen spent a lot of time with me in bed cuddling when I could handle it. When I was too ill to be crawled on she would sit and cry and cry. By the end of the week, instead of calling, "mom,mom, ma," she started to call, "dad, dada, dad" for the first time.
12. Susan is still moving around. I sure have been worried about how she is doing. I hardly ate anything for days and with the high fever, I was fighting dehydration. I was drinking on average 192 ounces of water a day and barely going to the bathroom. I knew I was getting better when I was drinking that much and spending a lot of time in the bathroom. I feel pretty confident that Susan will be fine.
