What I Want

Okay, well I am always reading blogs about what people are grateful for that day/month, or the things they love etc.. Those are really nice to read and make you feel good and act better. But, I am going to do the opposite and post about a few things that I want. I may never get some of these things..but this is my current wish list.

This is my most selfish desire for sure: Breast implants. I really want a nice chest (Oh well...) THis I will never get for sure because my conscience is too big. As long as people are starving or cold in the world. I could never justify spending $5,000 on vanity. But I do wants these.

Less selfish:  I want a washable leather sofa so the next time I have a kid that pees or pukes on the couch, I can just wipe it clean knowing that the puke has not settled into the cushion for life.



 Along the same lines as the couch : At least we would share. This is probably a really stupid desire, but I want a wii!!!! Maybe it is because I want to be like everyone else, or maybe it is because I really want to play the new super mario brothers with 3 of my family members at the same time. But I have to confess: I want a wii.

 This is not so selfish and we really do need a big enough house for our many children. This is the one I will most likely get too, but that is still a mystery.

I really want this house. I really hope the seller will accept our offer today. We cannot go up any more in price. But, boy!!! A five bedroom house, what a dream come true!!!!

To Want or Not to Want

Today Rachel said to me, "I want one at a time." I had no idea what she was talking about, so I told her I didn't know what she wanted. Rachel declared several times that she wanted one at a time with no other explanations. Then she got very emotional, cried and declared, "I don't want you anymore, Mommy!"

I calmly replied, "So, you want to find a new mommy?" Rachel seemed rather surprised at my response and quit crying. I continued, "So whose Mommy do you want?  Do you want Mariah's Mommy?"

Rachel looked absolutely stunned, and said, "No, I want you. I want you." Then several times through the rest of the day she would come and hug me and say, "I can keep you, right, Mommy?"

Congratulations Ruth

Congratulations to Ruthy!!!! After 11 months of steady reading and at age 11years and 11months Ruth has finished reading the entire Book of Mormon. Ruth is my biggest helper. She is always there when I need help taking care of the little kids. She will clean up messes just because she knows it needs to be done. If I am rushing around trying to get things done, Ruth will come up and ask me what she can do to help. She babysits her younger brothers and sisters and the neighbors kids for free. When John was unemployed Ruth gave us her babysitting money to buy diapers and soap and other needs. If I get grumpy or start yelling at all, Ruth starts singing hymns to remind me to be nice. I have been blessed with a very good and amazing oldest child.Good job, Ruthy!!!

A Perfect Day

Forgot to post this sooner:

On Monday, John and the school kids had the day off. We decided it was the perfect opportunity for family together time. That usually means leaving the house. I scoured the internet in the morning before doing chores to find fun family things to do in Utah. I found this Gateway Discovery Children's Museum in the Gateway mall in down town SLC.  The website said nothing about price, so I thought it was some free mall thing. That seemed like a good plan, but I thought it might be too young for the older kids. We decided to head to the zoo around lunch time and then go to the gateway mall. On the way to the zoo, it really started to rain. I turned around and headed to the Gateway mall.

The Children's Gateway Discovery Museum is not some small thing. It is a pretty big, fun , expensive kids museum. Usually at these places I buy a family pass because they quickly pay for themselves. But this place charges $20 extra dollars per kid past one child. So we paid for the day, and the lady at the desk got us in for $20 less. It was really fun. We were there for several hours. They had this neat toy store, and farm, and house and construction site. The kids loved playing there. (It was hard to keep track of six kids and one baby, but John and I managed to be patient and calm, and laughed at the all the disappearing kids instead of despairing.) That was the main floor. Upstairs they had all these neat puzzle and building things. The older kids loved building these parachute things and seeing them fly through these glass boxes that had air blowing up through them. Rachel really enjoyed the craft room and Anya spent at least an hour with some puzzles. There were also some fun giant legos, a helicopter, a news station, and magnets. John and I enjoyed playing with the kids all day.

When the kids were in the helicopter I heard Johnny say, "They took out all of the guns!" It is a life-flight helicopter.

When we finished we let Ruth and Kate go to Claire's. Then we went to Applebees for dinner. My kids were the best they have EVER been in a restaraunt. No one ran around. Nothing got spilled. No one cried about the food they got. No one complained about waiting for the food. No one had a fight or even a slight disagreement. Everyone shared nicely. We had fun chatting and joking. We got two desserts to share and no one took more than they should. It wasn't real life-- but it was.

We got home in time for the olympics.  I even got all of the chores done before we left so we came home to a nicely clean house. Monday was a perfect day!!!
