Rachel's bedtime prayer

Rachels prayer, done by herself, was quite cute:
"Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, Thank you that families can be together. Amen."

Conversation with Adam in the Mountains

Adam was shoving a stick into some small animal holes.
John: Adam stop doing that!
Me: Yeah snakes live there.
Adam (Happily): They do?
John: or moles, or woodchucks-- just small animals. (then John ran ahead to catch up with the older kids.)

Adam ( a little further down the trail seeing a larger animal hole.): Whoa!!!! A king Cobra lives there! Mom, do you think a King Cobra could live there.
Me:Yes, probably, except that King Cobras live in Africa.
Adam: Where is here?
Me: Utah
Adam: A king cobra moved to Utah!!!!!!! (skipping and singing)Old Mcdonald's had a King Cobra eieio, and that king cobra bit a Rachel eieio....

Murder Mystery Play

Ruth and Kate got out all of the little doll houses and polly pockets. They set up a little town with the houses and then used the Polly Pockets to play, "A murder mystery". I came in the room to sit with them for a while. I noticed three polly pockets lying on a bedroom floor. I asked the girls if those were the dolls that had been murdered. They said, "No way! None of our polly pockets can get killed. They just got scared and passed out. All of the polly pockets are trying to solve a murder mystery that happened years and years ago."

A Sweet Moment

During Sacrament meeting Rachel showed me a picture of the Savior and said, "This is Jesus Christ. He loves me. He loves my family too."

Pre-teen Girls

Ruth and Kate have had friends over a lot lately. Especially, this one neighbor, Hannah. I would have to say that it is a bit crazy. Yesterday, they kept saying mean things to each other and making each other cry or run home. 10 minutes later they would be begging to play together again and acting like they are best friends and that nothing ever happened. My question is: How do you deal with this, and were my friends and I like this too???????????

Tea party

On Thursday, we had a little kids tea party for our little kids and their little cousins. We had lots of little foods to go with the little dishes. There were mini cookies and brownies, minin peanut butter sandwiches, and poptarts, mini rice cakes, and a bunch of mini fruit. I enjoyed preparing what I did, and I know that the kids enjoyed eating it. All of the little girls dressed up, many of them had these cute tutu's (we had lost Rachel's). It was a lot of fun, and I know that Adam and Rachel really enjoyed themselves since that keep asking for more.

Broadcast

As all of you with school kids know, President Obama is giving a speech to all of the school kids in the nation Tuesday. Without saying how I feel about it, I will just include this letter that we got from our kids' school today, and say that I really do like the school my kids are in now.

Dear Fox Hollow families,

On Tuesday, September 8, President Obama will broadcast a speech to the students of our country. We will not be showing the broadcast at school. I would encourage families to take the opportunity to listen to the message about the importance of staying in school and to work hard to reach education goals. If you choose, you could view the speech first and decide what is right for your family. This will allow you to have an important discussion about the topic in a family setting. The mission statement of Alpine School District is "Educating all students to ensure the future of our democracy." I hope this will be an opportunity for you to learn together.

Thank you,

Mrs. Akagi
