Trunk or Treat

We had our annual ward trunk or Treat and chili cook off last night! And this year we have Rachel the Zebra, Scooby Doo Joseph, Ninja Adam, Iron Man Johnny, Crocodile Josh, Wicked Kate Witch, Butterfly Anya, Shakespearean Ruth, and Eskimo Arwen.
The kids "trunk or treat" in the parking lot. Then we go into the church for games and chili. And then there is an amazing, well done, spooky, gorey spook alley for anyone who wants to be creeped out. Our ward does an excellent job making Halloween fun. In fact, the whole neighborhood attends-- not just the Mormons.
A guy in our ward dressed up as Mitt Romney-- Impressive!

And so the mess begins. My method is to let them eat as much candy as they want to as fast as possible because let's just say 8 kids can make a huge mess with a pile of candy! The less I have to clean this up, the happier I am!

Wow, I marvel at all the cute costumes and I can't imagine getting it all together. The pictures were so cute and there is a lot of candy I can see. I do hope they don't have a sugar high for too long.
You have the sweetest family and I love your posts and pictures.
Blessings and hugs to you all!

Its comforting to know that I am not the only large family homeschooling mother who lets my children do Halloween. Not that I have any dislike or contention for those who don't celebrate it, I just really thought I was the only one left. I loved Ruth's constume. My six kids had their costumes all ready then yesterday afternoon all decided to be pirates. So they are all going in tattered clothing and splitting a few pirate sets--its a little late($) for everyone to get their own set of gear. But trick or treating is fun and our ward doesn't offer an alternative so we'll plunder our way through the neighborhood and then come home and feast upon the spoils. After that I say all things in moderation, which simply means I try not to sneak any. If I take a piece of candy, the kids get one too. No hypocrisy for me:)
