Rachel came to me the other day and excitedly showed me two quarters she had found. I thought that she was excited to get money. (A dumb thing to think of a two year old.) Then Rachel lifted the quarters up, covered her eyes, and said "Look! Eyes!"
Rachel loves the songs "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep," and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." They have the same tune. Rachel goes around singing then all of the time. She always gets the tune correct, and she always sings fake words with an occasional baa, baa, and little star.
I bought some new clothes, because I have not lost enough weight in time to fit into my old summer clothes. When I put on my new outfit, Adam came into my room and said, "Oh, Mom, that looks good on you." I sure felt happy after that.
Adam was putting on his spiderman costume and having a bit of trouble pulling it up over his overall shorts. I asked, "Do you want me to help you get that up over your bum." Adam said, "Yeah, because I have a fat bum like you."
Adam has been wearing a spiderman costume around recently. When he is in his costume and you call him Adam he will very seriously say, "Call me Spiderman."
Ruth, Kate, Johnny, and Adam were watching me put my make-up on, and talking to me while I did so. When I got my make-up all the way on, Kate said, "You look prettier in make- up, mom." I agree with that statement completely. Then Johnny said, "Well, I think you look pretty without make-up." John agrees with that statement.
While I was putting on my make-up with my audience we talked about wrinkles. I showed the kids the wrinkles around my eyes. They asked how I got those there. Later, Johnny worriedly said, "Am I getting wrinkles around my eyes?" I said, "You don't have to worry about that yet, and boys don't care about that anyway." Then Johnny timidly said, "Some boys do." I asked, "Do you care?" He replied, "Yes, a little bit." Johnny has always cared more about his looks than our other kids.

Those are all really funny. That's cute that Johnny worries about wrinkles. And about him saying, "Call me spiderman." Henry does something similar--he doesn't like us to call him anything but Henry, even if he's pretending to be SuperWhy or Buzz Lightyear or something, but then ever since our Primary activity, he is very serious that he is "Henry, a missionary and a kid."

Elizabeth has always been very blunt regarding physical appearances, even at a very early age. When she and Emma saw me spreading the facial-hair-removing-creme on, several years ago, Emma asked what is was for and Elizabeth accepted my brief and polite answer and immediately followed it with, "So Mom doesn't look like a man!"
AND...if Adam inherited a big bum, it would most assuredly have been from the robertson side! Line my kids up, they can weigh the same and be as physically fit, but Robert's butt sticks out, and Jacob's and Elizabeth's always have; while Emma's, Joseph's, and Matthew's are a nice straight continuation from the waist to the thigh. Let's all blame Grandpa, OK?
why do i love you all so much? Because of amazing stories like these! How cute. You are so funny Diane, I want to be a mom like you. Where I show my kids my wrinkles and am blunt with them. But then we play a lot and have fun. I love it! You are cute.
what i originally said was:
"as for my mustache, i am just trying to look like a mexican teenager"
but then i thought you could think i was saying both boy and girl mexicans have mustaches ...so i deleted it. I was only meaning that boy mexicans get a mustache when they are like 10 or something and that yes i have unwanted facial hair i have to take care of, but when i dont take care of it, that's probably what i look like.
that was a lot to explain. remind me not to make mexican jokes again.
Ok from me again, but Becca made me remember that John looks totally mexican when he does not shave, and since he is not going to work now, he looks pretty mexican by Wednesday. He is even getting tan from walking everyday.
That is really funny about Johnny and the make-up. I hope that he will get over that soon though. Anyway, I am writing in my blog now.
That is funny! My kids watch me put on my make-up too and often pretend to put make-up on themselves. It is quite cute!
