I am officially the parent of a teenager. I have been dreading this, at least I was a few years ago. Things like this seem to creep up on you without you recognizing any real change. We have discussed good teenagers as opposed to the classical teenager. I want my teenagers to be happy and successful and that means being a good person even when it is hard and your body is changing a lot. So for the first day, things are pretty good. In fact, Ruth really is quite amazing on the whole. She is an excellent student, she is helpful and organized at home. She doesn't mind working and cleaning and helping with her younger siblings. She reads her scriptures and prays. She attends church happily and likes to learn at church. I have no complaints. I just hopes she stays on the same path.
I think Ruth had a pretty good birthday. It is unusual to have my parents around for a birthday, so that made the whole event more special. We did the normal fancy dinner, presents, and cake, and then a bunch of us went to see Tangled in the dollar theater.

St. Patrick's Day Food
St. Patrick's day came during my parent's visit. They were nice and let me dye all of our food green. We had green milk on our cereal for breakfast. I put the kids initials in green on their peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, and we had green chicken fajitas made by my mom for dinner. Instead of rolled eyes, my kids seemed to enjoy our green day. And some of the stuff got eaten too.
Not Blogging For a Good Reason
I have been off blogger for a week because my parents came to visit. I had not seen them for a year and a half, so it was really nice to have them around. My Dad wrestles and plays with the kids all of the time, and they love it. My mom takes us shopping and stays up late talking to me. She also cooks for us and holds the baby while I cook and clean. We will really miss them.

Oh The Things They Say
From Rachel: I love steak. It tastes like Music.
From Kate: Mom you're clean,. Your house may not look as nice as everyone else's. But that's because you have so many little ones. You clean more than anyone else.

How I Know Adam is Growing Up
1. Adam lost his first tooth yesterday morning. He bit down on a toy and out came his tooth. Instead of waiting for the tooth fairy, Adam begged me to give him his dollar right away. Eventually, I caved-- the tooth fairy is pretty forgetful at our house anyway.
2. Adam is a great older brother. He is good at holding the baby for me when I am busy in the mornings. He is also good at starting games with Anya and Rachel. He is very kind to them most of the time too. Wednesday, he sat down next to Rachel and said, "You are a good sister, Rachel. Did you know that?"
3. Adam has a new plan for his future: he would like to grow a goatee. Last night he said to me, "When I am a dad, I am going to have a goatee because I like them!"
