51 years is a long time, but John has built a large loving family that stands by him through the thick and the thin. I think he has reason there to celebrate 51 years of life.

August-September Happenings
Well there has been a lot going on and I have not been good at getting things up on the blog because there has been a lot going on. First the washing machine broke down the day after our last beach trip in mid-august. I have been doing all of our laundry in the bathtub and wringing it out by hand and hanging it outside to dry and I hate it and I want a new washing machine or a used washing machine that works or my 2 year old washing machine fixed. I hate it, I hate it, I hate.
Second Kate broke her foot at that beach trip and she has only been walking around for a week now, so we have missed her and she has missed family, but she is finally getting better now. But in the meantime, Kate finished her first novel and it is almost up and ready to sell and she has learned to crochet and is crocheting stuffed animals for the little kids for Christmas.
Third, the countertops around our kitchen rotted and our faucet was leaking horribly and hadn't worked right for years, so we are currently replacing our countertops, but with items that we already had, minus the plumbing and faucet which we bought new. We have basically had to rebuild the entire cabinet, except the two sides. But Johnny and Adam have done a fantastic job and it is very sturdy. The wood countertops are now in, but we still need to put on the tile. In the meantime, we have been using paper dishes and washing the pots and pans and silverware in the other bathtub. A few more days, and we should have a working kitchen sink again, much to the relief of everyone in the family.
Fourth, I put out two more homeschool curriculum books. I am now making about $100 a month on my books and in another year, I expect the two new books will be selling as much. My goal at this point is to get 12 out so that I can start making a little over a thousand dollars a month. Currently there are three and one more in the works.
Fifth, Ruth is working on an easy reader book for pre-k and kindergarten. She is drawing and coloring over 300 photos. We've printed what she has done and Sam is using it for school right now.
Sixth, Kate turned 23 and Johnny turned 21.
Seventh, summer has ended much to our relief and fall is so lovely.
Eighth, I took the school kids to the aquarium for free on homeschool day and they all loved it so much. I did not take Gideon because I would have had to pay for him, But he was very sad and I think that I made a mistake in not taking him. Next, I plan to take him if I can.
Ninth, Adam twisted his ankle at the aquarium, and was out for a week. He seems just fine now.
Tenth, Josh seemed to pick up a bad cold from the aquarium and it has slowly been going through all of the kids. It lasts at least a week and a half at least and it is only hitting the kids under 18 and only badly hitting the kids under 13. Poor Eliza was so miserable yesterday with a fever and a runny nose, but she is fine today and she was the last to fall victim, so we are now on the upside. Still this is the sickest my kids have been since a flu they had in 2012, at least, I think that is true.
Eleventh, we've been doing school, seriously most weeks. The kids are using my language arts curriculum books, some online course, and our regular math texts that we have been using for years.
Twelfth, we've been playing Among Us almost daily and it has been fun.
Oh and Thirteenth, a large piece of wood hit our headlight and we still have to replace that! Ugh!
